Vtg 1928 Bronze Excelsior New York Special Model Accordion + Case
This 1928 metallic and bronze Excelsior New York Special Model accordion is beyond gorgeous! It features intricate floral cutouts and is studded with multi-colored (red, white, blue, green, and amber) rhinestones throughout for extra shine. Most of the rhinestones are present though it is missing a few. The leather straps are even embossed with a floral pattern. The bellows have a a burgundy and off-white diamond pattern. The keys are off-white mother of pearl. The body of the accordion is a mixture of metallic bronze and copper coloring making it shine extra bright. The accordion features the "Pietro's System." Pietro Fronsini was a highly-skilled accordionist known for his innovative playing style and compositions, which contributed to the development of this unique button layout. This layout refers to a decorative piano-like appearance on the button layout, allowing for more versatility in playing melodies while still using a button system; essentially, it's a customized button arrangement that mimics the look and feel of a piano keyboard on a chromatic button accordion. The accordion has a side stamp on the right and left-hand sides reading "Excelsior N.Y. U.S. Pat. Mar 1927 Oct 1928." The accordion comes with the original blue velvet lined case. The case is in good condition overall. This accordion would be a stellar addition to any accordionists collection! It's a real showstopper.
Condition: The inside of the case is a little dirty, but is overall in good shape. The outside of the case has some scuffs, scrapes, and small rips on the outside layer from use. The accordion is in great shape for its age. Most of the rhinestones are present. The body of the accordion has a few wear spots. The side feet and edges have some wear and chipping on the copper/bronze body (see photos). There is wear in a few spots on the hard yellow leather-like fabric on the bottom of the accordion. The bass buttons push down and come back up. The keys are in great shape, level, and work. The accordion gives off strong sound with no visible leaks in the bellows. The metal strap hooks, strap rivets, and metal pieces on the bellows have some green discoloration. The bellow metal pieces do not have much of this. More so the side pieces and strap rivets. The metal mesh side locks are crinkled from use and one has a pointy lose end sticking out. They still snap lock securely. The leather straps are worn and the yellow fabric on the back of them is ripped and coming off. Please carefully review the images, as they serve as an extension of the description.
